The Long Career of Dr. Gail Weingast

Soon after she completed her medical school education at Boston University and several internships, residencies and fellowships at hospitals in the Denver are, Dr. Gail Weingast practiced at several other hospitals in Colorado and also in New York, until she settled into her current position in Connecticut. These days, Dr. Weingast is best known as a highly regarded radiology specialist at William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich, Connecticut, where she is the Chief of Ultrasound and Breast Imaging.

She has become an institution at Backus Hospital over her 20 years there, probably because she has been able to use her position to transform that department and the hospital at large a premiere medical facility. No doubt it has been her more than four decades of knowledge and experience that has given her the ability to do that. Her career path hasn’t always been a straight line; it even started with a Bachelor’s Degree in Spanish before she switched over to medicine a few years later. The rest is, of course, history. And it’s a good history.
