Leading Radiology: Dr. Gail Weingast

After enrolling at the Boston University School of Medicine and earning the right to be called Dr. Gail Weingast. MD in 1976, the good doctor realized she was at the beginning of a long journey to becoming a physician and top radiologist. Following medical school, she completed a two-year pediatrics internship, a two-year pediatrics residency, a two-year residency in radiology with a fellowship in ultrasound, all at Colorado General Hospital in Denver, and she finished her post-graduate studies as a radiologist at St. Anthony’s Hospital, also in Denver by 1984.

Once she completed her basic studies, Dr. Gail Weingast practiced at many other hospitals in Colorado and New York, before ending up at William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich, Connecticut, where she has been for more than two decades. Currently the Chief of Ultrasound and Breast Imaging at Backus, she has worked hard to transform her department to one of the best in the nation. Dr. Gail Weingast places great value in every aspect of her educational and career path – even her Bachelor’s Degree in Spanish – because it all led to her becoming a top radiology specialist.
