Dr. Gail Weingast – Building a Legacy at Backus Hospital
Dr. Gail Weingast’s legacy in radiology is firmly established at William W. Backus Hospital, where she has served for over two decades. As Chief of Ultrasound and Breast Imaging, her leadership has been pivotal in transforming the radiology department into a nationally recognized center of excellence.
Her journey began in 1969 at Tufts University’s Jackson College, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish. Soon after, her path shifted toward medicine, and she earned her MD from Boston University School of Medicine in 1976. Dr. Weingast then undertook an extensive post-graduate education, focusing on pediatrics, radiology, and ultrasound, completing her training at Colorado General Hospital and St. Anthony’s Hospital in Denver.
Before joining Backus Hospital, Dr. Weingast honed her expertise at hospitals in Colorado and New York. Her vast experience laid the foundation for her success at Backus, where her leadership has been transformative.
